Today is the 20th anniversary of the founding of Bench Memos!
I’m grateful to have been here from the beginning—through the Supreme Court confirmation battles of eight of the nine sitting justices; the transformation of the Court into an institution that my old boss, Justice Scalia, would be very proud of; countless explanations, praise or criticism of judicial rulings; and much more.
It’s been a special pleasure in recent years to run across very successful young lawyers who tell me that their legal education began by reading Bench Memos in high school or college.
My deep thanks to National Review for the wonderful platform, to my many tremendous colleagues (especially Matt Franck and Carrie Severino) along the way, and to all of you readers who make it worthwhile.
