Blaming (or Crediting?) Roberts

Yesterday’s Washington Post featured as its lead story an article about a new book—Robert Draper’s Dead Certain: The Presidency of George Bush—that includes among its supposed revelations the claim that (in the Post’s paraphrase) it was Chief Justice Roberts who “suggested [Harriet] Miers to [President] Bush as a possible Supreme Court justice.”  The claim is implausible-to-preposterous in so many respects—as ABC’s Jan Crawford Greenburg and Power Line’s Paul Mirengoff discuss—but I suppose it’s still good to have the Post’s report of Roberts’s rejection of the account.
