Democratic Senate hopeful Bob Casey has said he would vote in favor of Alito were he serving in the Senate. The path to this announcement was cleared by Pennsylvania governor (and former DNC chair) Ed Rendell’s comments to the same effect. Rendell’s announcement should blunt any anti-Casey feeling within the Democratic base, particularly that portion of the base that was already willing to look past Casey’s heretical views on abortion.
