Lawless: The Obama Administration’s Unprecedented Assault on the Constitution and the Rule of Law

Many books have been written about the abuses of the Obama administration, and many remain to be written, but David Bernstein’s Lawless is just out, and available now on Amazon. It is an excellent summary, and has a terrific foreword by Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. I review Lawless in a blog post on the Library of Law and Liberty, entitled “Unconstitutional at Any Speed: Assessing the Legacy of Obama.”

Bernstein is a professor at the George Mason University School of Law, and in this book his libertarian leanings only sharpen the focus of his withering critique of Obama’s legacy. His criticisms extend to the DOJ, IRS, EPA, Department of Education, EEOC, NLRB, and other agencies. One book cannot possibly cover all of Obama’s lawlessness — for example, Lawless overlooks the Tenth Amendment and pays short shrift to the granting of amnesty by executive fiat — but Bernstein’s analysis is meticulous and the tone is uncompromising.
