Settlement of Sexual-Misconduct Accusations Against Alan Dershowitz

A year ago, I discussed (here, here, and here) Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz’s vehement denial of allegations that he had sexual relations with an under-aged girl who says she had been made a “sex slave” by businessman Jeffrey Epstein, so I will take note that there has been a settlement of those allegations.

Among other things, the lawyers who brought those allegations “acknowledge that it was a mistake to have filed sexual misconduct accusations against Dershowitz,” and they have withdrawn those allegations as part of a broader settlement of a defamation case.

At the same time, those lawyers have, in a separate document (H/t Above the Law), stated that they are not acknowledging that the allegations are mistaken but instead are withdrawing the allegations because those allegations “became a major distraction from the merits of [their client’s] well-founded Crime Victims’ Rights Act case [involving Epstein} by causing delay and, as a consequence, turned out to have been a tactical mistake.”

Now that that’s all cleared up ….
