Irrational Bigots

By Judge Walker’s (dim) lights, President Obama is an irrational bigot because he opposes same-sex marriage (or at least says he does).  Ditto for Bill Clinton, who signed into law the Defense of Marriage Act, and for Vice President Biden, Senate majority leader Harry Reid, Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Pat Leahy, and the other 82 senators and 342 House members who voted for DOMA.  And, I’m guessing conservatively, some 250 million or more Americans, including many, like Jonathan Rauch, who strongly support same-sex marriage as a matter of policy but who believe that Proposition 8 (in Rauch’s words) “represents a reasonable judgment that the people of California are entitled to make.”
