More Andy McCarthy on OLC Nominee Dawn Johnsen

At her confirmation hearing on Wednesday, Dawn Johnsen, President Obama’s nominee to head the Office of Legal Counsel in the Justice Department, attempted to deny one component of her extremist record that Andy McCarthy exposed in his excellent National Review article on her: her comparison of undesired pregnancy to slavery. In an NRO essay today, Andy McCarthy spells things out in detail.

What might charitably be described as Johnsen’s lack of candor reinforces the concerns that Andy and others have raised that Johnsen is (in Andy’s words) “an ideologue, and an unabashed one”, “nothing short of a zealot” on “abortion and other issues dear to the Left”, and “a crusader for whom strident excess is habitual”—in short, exactly the wrong person for “a position calling for dispassionate rigor”.
