President Obama Prepares Another Appellate Nomination

In January, the Senate confirmed Judge Louis Restrepo to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Now there are nine vacancies on the U.S. Courts of Appeals. President Obama has made nominations for three of those vacancies. According to this report, he is preparing to make another. Northern California District Court Judge Lucy Koh is likely to be nominated to an open seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Judge Koh is a former assistant U.S. Attorney and was nominated by then-governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to a California state court before being nominated by President Obama to the district court in 2010.
