Palin, the Court, and the Katie Couric crowd

I for one am not at all troubled that Governor Palin did not spout a ready list of Supreme Court decisions she disagrees with in her interview with Katie Couric.   The liberal elites implying that Palin is some sort of uninformed Miss Congeniality is absurd.  She’s not a lawyer and one would not expect her to have followed the Supreme Court very closely as Governor of Alaska.    But the same liberal elites of course nod with approval at the “Miss Congeniality” type statement by Justice Sandra Day O’Connor that reliance on international and foreign law in resolving American domestic legal issues will “not only enrich our own country’s decisions; it will create that all-important good impression.”   I suspect that Governor Palin’s reaction to the Supreme Court making illegitimate decisions in order to “create a good impression” in foreign countries would be that, doggone it, the Court should just follow binding American law.   And she’d be right.
