On Repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

As I’ve indicated before, I haven’t held any particular position on whether Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell should be repealed. Folks whose judgment I respect have been on both sides of the question, and I haven’t taken the time (and am not sure that I would have the necessary expertise) to sort through the competing positions.

So I’ll limit myself for now to this observation on the impending repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell: If it were done when ‘tis done, then ‘twere well it were done legislatively. (And, no, I am in no way intending to suggest that the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has anything in common with Macbeth’s murder of King Duncan.)
