Scholars and Scribes, This Wednesday

On Wednesday, July 6, from 10 a.m. to noon, the Center for Legal & Judicial Studies at the Heritage Foundation will host its annual “Scholars & Scribes” review of the 2009–2010 Supreme Court term and provide a preview of the next term.

The Scholars panel will be moderated by former attorney general Ed Meese and will include former acting solicitor general Neal Katyal, esteemed Chapman law professor Ron Rotunda, and leading torts authority Victor Schwartz. The Scribes panel will be moderated by Todd Gaziano and will include Jess Bravin of the Wall Street Journal, Michael Doyle of McClatchy, and Stuart Taylor Jr. of National Journal.

The discussion will include looking at what Snyder v. Phelps (the funeral protestor case) and Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Assoc. (the violent video games case) mean for the First Amendment; whether Bond v. United States will lay the groundwork for overturning Obamacare; and the impact of American Electric Power Co. v. Connecticut on future global-warming litigation.
