Schumer: No New Nominees

It’s a shame I was not able to hang around the American Constitution Society National Conference after my panel today, as I missed Senator Chuck Schumer explain that he would fight any future Bush Supreme Court nominees tooth and nail.  “We should reverse the presumption of confirmation,” he apparently said, explaining that “the Supreme Court is dangerously out of balance. We cannot afford to see Justice Stevens replaced by another Roberts, or Justice Ginsburg by another Alito.”  Even though he opposed both nominees, Schumer complained that the Senate Judiciary Committee was “hoodwinked” and that he should have “twisted more arms” to prevent Justice Alito’s confirmation.
