If I may indulge myself in the rare baseball post, I’d strongly recommend that Justice Alito lay a big bet now with Justice Sotomayor that his Phillies, not her Yankees, will win the World Series. I don’t mean to dis the fine Yankee team—it wouldn’t be a surprise if they win it all—but I don’t see any team that looks better right now than the Phillies.
And it’s important to lay the bet now, as the Yankees have a tougher path to get to the October/November Classic. (Don’t get me started on how stupid it is that the playoff season goes so late and how especially stupid it is that the playoff games start so late in the evening and are permitted to drag on at so slow a pace.)
