The Wallace Fight

The Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to hold a hearing on the nomination of Michael Wallace to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit on either September 19 or 26.  Democratic Senators and liberal activists groups claim Wallace has a troubling record on civil rights, a charge Wallace’s defenders vehemently deny.  Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen specter is concerned about the procedural irregularities of the ABA’s evaluation of Wallace (chronicled by my Bench Memos colleague Ed Whalen).  Should be an interesting fight.
