Today the Court begins its November sitting by hearing a series of cases having little in common. This morning’s arguments are about exhaustion of remedies requirements in disability law and the test for useful articles protectable under the Copyright Act. Tuesday’s arguments are about whether a court must dismiss a qui tam suit when the relator violates the False Claims Act’s requirement to keep the suit under seal and the whether laches are available as a defense to suits for patent infringement. Wednesday’s only argument is about pleading standards under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act in a case arising out of an alleged expropriation by Venezuela in 2010.
