This Week at the Supreme Court

This week’s big case comes last. Monday begins with Wittman v. Personhubullah, a Equal Protection Clause and Voting Rights Act case on direct review from a three-judge panel in the Eastern District of Virginia. After that, the Court considers whether and to what extent the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (better known as RICO) applies extraterritorially in RGR Nabisco v. European Community.

Tuesday features a case about preclusion under the Federal Tort Claims Act and a couple bankruptcy cases.

On Wednesday, and almost exactly two years after the Supreme Court heard argument on the contraceptive mandate in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores (2014), the Little Sisters of the Poor and several other religious non-profits will make the case that they shouldn’t be forced to help provide contraceptives to their employees in Zubik v.
