Happy Monday morning!
Today is the first day of arguments for the Supreme Court’s 2015 October Term. The Court has already been back to work for a few weeks now to prepare cases for argument. There are 24 cases set for argument, with 18 granted but yet to be scheduled (thanks to SCOTUSblog for the statistics). This morning we will find out which other cases the Court has granted for certiorari.
Also this morning, the Court will hear arguments about the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. Tomorrow will involve questions about how to resolve a split between the California Court of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit regarding the Federal Arbitration Act and the scope of a conspiracy to commit extortion. And on Wednesday, argument will focus on Kansas’s death penalty jury instructions.
