“Longtime Appellate Lawyer Nominated For D.C. Court of Appeals”

When I first hastily read this headline on a BLT post reporting President Obama’s nomination of Roy McLeese III, I was doubly surprised: What about my rock-solid information that NAACP Legal Defense Fund lawyer Debo P. Adegbile would be Obama’s next nominee to the D.C. Circuit? And how could Obama, in selecting McLeese, have made such a quality centrist nomination to such a high-profile seat?

The answer to my questions, as a more careful reader of the headline will have realized, is that Obama nominated McLeese not to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit but to the District of Columbia’s highest court.
