The 3:00 AM Text Message

Carl Cameron was just saying on FNC that some Dems think the 3:00 AM text message announcing the Biden pick might have been a veiled thwack at Hillary for her “3:00 AM ad.” The guys as First Read also noted the timing of the message, though they don’t suggest it’s deliberate. All I have to say is that if it was deliberate — and I really, really doubt it was — then that is the most substantive proof so far that Obama’s youthful arrogance is getting the better of him. The text message ploy on its own was kind of dumb. But if it was a way to tweak Clinton, it was beyond self-indulgent. And the fact that the message went out at 3:00 AM at all is a sign the whole thing was too clever by half.

Update: Goldfarb thinks it was deliberate.  And a reader sends this:

On FNC last night, I believe that Laura Ingraham during the 8 o’clock hour laughingly predicted a 3am text message just to toy with Hillary. If Obama sent it at 3am and it wasn’t their intention to highlight the Hillary ad, then they are more out of touch than anyone could imagine.

Surely someone at Marvel Studios had an early doubt, reading the script and thinking: “Wait, we’re going to have hundreds of African warriors in brightly colored tribal garb, using ancient weapons, ... Obstruction Confusions

In his Lawfare critique of one of my several columns about the purported obstruction case against President Trump, Gabriel Schoenfeld loses me — as I suspect he will lose others — when he says of himself, “I do not think I am Trump-deranged.” Gabe graciously expresses fondness for me, and the feeling is ... Students’ Anti-Gun Views

Are children innocents or are they leaders? Are teenagers fully autonomous decision-makers, or are they lumps of mental clay, still being molded by unfolding brain development? The Left seems to have a particularly hard time deciding these days. Take, for example, the high-school students from Parkland, ... Read More
