AP: Aaron Schock under Federal Investigation

The Associated Press is reporting that the Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into Representative Aaron Schock’s (R., Ill.) business dealings and office expenses.

When Schock stepped down earlier this week, he explained his resignation by saying that the barrage of questions directed at him made it difficult for him to do his job. But others speculated that a federal investigation could be underway, and Schock’s own father subsequently said that his fate ultimately depended on what the Justice Department decides to do.

“Ten years from now, whatever he’s doing, he will be successful at,” Schock’s father told ABC News. “Two years from now, he will be successful if he’s not in jail.”
