Ayotte: New Benghazi Emails ‘Should Matter’

Senator Kelly Ayotte (R., N.H.) told Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that the White House ignored intelligence reports that showed Benghazi was a terrorist attack because they were ”trying to push a narrative of strength in foreign policy” during the 2012 election.

“The White House was pushing a political explanation leading up to an election, the president had been saying al-Qaeda was on the run, [and] they’re trying to push a narrative of strength in foreign policy,” Ayotte said.

Ayotte also said the Benghazi attack is a sign of the broader failure of Obama’s “light-footprint foreign policy” that he’s used since Benghazi with Syria and Russia.
