I missed him at noon on Jan. 20, 2009, but that won’t come as a surprise to anyone. For a couple of years it’s been fashionable for some to trash President Bush, to say they knew all along the presidency would falter. Charles Krauthammer told me to take heart last year — he said that at the end of one year people would rack up the decision and that “my guy would come out looking just fine.” He was right — and I am glad to be somewhat back in fashion.
