Bloomberg Takes Opportunity Not to Politicize Hurricane, Endorses Obama

Yet another one of our political leaders has taken the opportunity not to politicize Hurricane Sandy. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced moments ago, in an op-ed, that he is endorsing President Obama because the hurricane might have been caused by climate change. Oddly, it was only Sandy that brought the stakes of Tuesday’s election into “sharp relief” for him:

The devastation that Hurricane Sandy brought to New York City and much of the Northeast — in lost lives, lost homes and lost business — brought the stakes of next Tuesday’s presidential election into sharp relief…

Our climate is changing. And while the increase in extreme weather we have experienced in New York City and around the world may or may not be the result of it, the risk that it may be — given the devastation it is wreaking — should be enough to compel all elected leaders to take immediate action.

Also, Mayor Bloomberg has two daughters, and he likes that President Obama cares a lot about a woman’s right to abortions. All in all, a thorough and well-thought out endorsement.

The Gun-Control Debate Could Break America

Last night, the nation witnessed what looked a lot like an extended version of the famous “two minutes hate” from George Orwell’s novel 1984. During a CNN town hall on gun control, a furious crowd of Americans jeered at two conservatives, Marco Rubio and Dana Loesch, who stood in defense of the Second ... Read More

Billy Graham: Neither Prophet nor Theologian

Asked in 1972 if he believed in miracles, Billy Graham answered: Yes, Jesus performed some and there are many "miracles around us today, including television and airplanes." Graham was no theologian. Neither was he a prophet. Jesus said "a prophet hath no honor in his own country." Prophets take adversarial ... Read More
