Boehner: ‘We Are Nowhere’

House Speaker John Boehner said earlier today of negotiations on a deal that would prevent the country from going over the fiscal cliff, “we are nowhere.” Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Boehner said that, when he heard the White House’s latest proposal, ferried to lawmakers by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, “I looked at him and said, ‘You can’t be serious.’”

Boehner went on to say that the past three weeks have been “wasted” with the White House’s “nonsense.” He expressed frustration that, while Republicans have indicated their willingness to compromise on revenues, the White House has not budged on entitlement spending.

We have gone from Sam Peckinpah’s realistic portrayal of violent death to a gory ritual of metal ripping ... Read More
