Cruz: ‘I Don’t Work for the Party Bosses in Washington’

Ted Cruz isn’t concerned with what some of his Republican colleagues think of him, including those leading the party. The Texas senator recently drew ire from Republicans for putting some of them in a position to vote for a debt-ceiling increase after he threatened to filibuster unless it got 60 votes.

“What I try to keep an eye on is that I don’t work for the party bosses in Washington,” Cruz told CNN’s Dana Bash when asked about his contentious personal relationships. “I work for 26 million Texans.”

Despite tensions with both his Republican and Democratic colleagues, Cruz said he is “consistently civil, courteous, respectful, [and] treating them with the dignity they deserve.”
