Did Weiner Correspond wth ‘Sydney Leathers’?

We may now know the identity of the woman who allegedly had sexually explicit conversations with New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner.

Buzzfeed believes the woman identifies herself online as “Sydney Leathers” and “sidneyelainexo,” a 23 year-old who described herself as an Obama for America employee (her Twitter account is protected). Buzzfeed says it has confirmed with a source, who claims to have known “Sydney Elaine Leathers” since high school, that the women in question did correspond with Weiner. The source also says that Leathers “felt she was the important one” in Weiner’s life, surpassing even his wife, Huma Abedin.

Several photos from her social-media accounts match blurred photos from Facebook and Formspring that were posted on the gossip wesbsite The Dirty. In 2011, she posted on Facebook that “Rep. Weiner can continue sending dick pics every single day for the rest of his life as long as he continues to legislate like he does,” and she listed Anthony Weiner in third place on her list of heroes, just behind President Obama and Bill Maher. She also wrote at one point that Weiner “did nothing worth resignation.”

The Daily Mail has what appear to be additional photos of the woman (warning: some of the photos on the page are explicit) and reports that she is a blogger for the Indiana Progressive Liberals.

The website that her Twitter account points to, followsydney.com, appears to have been taken down

The Gun-Control Debate Could Break America

Last night, the nation witnessed what looked a lot like an extended version of the famous “two minutes hate” from George Orwell’s novel 1984. During a CNN town hall on gun control, a furious crowd of Americans jeered at two conservatives, Marco Rubio and Dana Loesch, who stood in defense of the Second ... Read More

Obstruction Confusions

In his Lawfare critique of one of my several columns about the purported obstruction case against President Trump, Gabriel Schoenfeld loses me — as I suspect he will lose others — when he says of himself, “I do not think I am Trump-deranged.” Gabe graciously expresses fondness for me, and the feeling is ... Students’ Anti-Gun Views

Are children innocents or are they leaders? Are teenagers fully autonomous decision-makers, or are they lumps of mental clay, still being molded by unfolding brain development? The Left seems to have a particularly hard time deciding these days. Take, for example, the high-school students from Parkland, ... Read More

Kill Chic

We live in a society in which gratuitous violence is the trademark of video games, movies, and popular music. Kill this, shoot that in repugnant detail becomes a race to the visual and spoken bottom. We have gone from Sam Peckinpah’s realistic portrayal of violent death to a gory ritual of metal ripping ... Read More
