Erdoğan of Gaza

According to the Turkish press, Ismail Haniyeh, the prime minister of Hamas in Gaza, has named his newest grandson “Erdoğan” after Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Below is the little guy swaddled in a Turkish flag. Why Hamas is so grateful to Erdoğan remains a mystery to no one in Turkey, in Gaza, or, indeed, anyone outside the State Department.
