Good Primetimes

I didn’t get to watch American Idol last night and am catching up this afternoon. Whatever you think of American Idol, I’d argue there is reason to be heartened by this year’s Top 3. I’ll admit my bias: I’ve long been a country fan, and Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alania are pretty much all country, Scotty with the kind of voice that can only embrace. But both seem to embrace the values, too, if song choice and attire are any indication. If you’re an Idol-with-your-family viewer, what a gift these two are. Modesty, not always something AI is known for, is the norm. They don’t seem to be looking to be salacious, edgy, or otherwise complicated, just good. Want to see what I mean?

During a CNN town hall on gun control, a furious crowd of Americans jeered at two conservatives, Marco Rubio and Dana Loesch, who stood in defense of the Second ... Read More
