‘Gutter Google-Bomb Politics’ Would Be a Compliment

Having made Rick Santorum a filthy word on the Internet, sex columnist Dan Savage, fresh from a Real Time with Bill Maher discussion about violent sex with Michele Bachmann and Senator Santorum, is threatening to make “Rick” one too.

TV producers ought to stop treating Savage’s tactics as anything like respectable. This is vulgar and beneath us, as a political culture. 

I’m not going to ask “Or is it?” — yet. Though Real Time and the evening lineup on MSNBC do make me wonder …
