Health-Care Rationer Berwick Running for Mass. Governor

Good grief. First, NHS and health-care-rationing fan Dr. Donald Berwick was nominated to head Medicare. But because he likes health-care rationing, the Democrats didn’t even hold a hearing on the nomination. President Obama then put him in the job via a recess appointment.

That gig ended. Then, a few months ago he was appointed by U.K. prime minister David Cameron to lead the rescue effort of the fast-imploding NHS on issues of patient safety.

Now, he’s going to run to be the governor of Massachusetts! From the Politico story:

“As a doctor, an educator, an innovator and someone who has dedicated his professional career to making things work better and to helping people  I am ready to lead,” Berwick said in a statement formally announcing his candidacy to succeed Deval Patrick, a Democrat who is not seeking a third term in 2014.

What about his pledge to fix the NHS? His report is due in July, but that’s it? A paper and out of there?

Oh well. I guess it’s hard to get off the political fame junket. Just ask Anthony Weiner.
