Jimmy Carter Also Believes in God and Likes People to Have Roofs Over Their Heads

Not to a) take that e-mail too seriously (admitedly this is too late already) or b) start up an old argument (Dreher’s is in the room–hopeless), but it’s worth making a broader point…we aren’t all caricatures in politics. That’s why it shouldn’t be assumed if you drink organic milk (Rod) or eat very special steak (Warren) or like animals a whole bunch (Matt Scully) you’re a lefty. Some of us in The Corner even do the recyling thing, put the glass and the plastic and the old copies of The Nation (we read you, David! Katha!) out the day we’re told to and everything. And some Democrats are against abortion. Some of them voted for John Roberts, even if the left will tell you that he’s part of an evil plot to make sure there are no future Dianne Feinsteins in the Senate (uh, actually…that Karl’s a smart dude!). And a lot of them, it never escapes me, read The Corner pretty often, if the e-mail we get is any indication.

The Gun-Control Debate Could Break America

Last night, the nation witnessed what looked a lot like an extended version of the famous “two minutes hate” from George Orwell’s novel 1984. During a CNN town hall on gun control, a furious crowd of Americans jeered at two conservatives, Marco Rubio and Dana Loesch, who stood in defense of the Second ... Read More
