Little Tin Box

Remember Saul Alinsky’s Rule No. 4? That would be this one:

Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules. You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.

If the GOP were really serious about defeating Obama and the Democrats this fall — and they sure had better be — then a coordinated campaign of using the Left’s tactics against it would now be underway. Sure, it was nice to see Reince Priebus call the Senate majority leader a “dirty liar,” but what he should be spearheading is a no-holds-barred investigation into the sources of Harry Reid’s personal enrichment during a lifetime of “public service.”

Figures from 2010 show Reid’s net worth lying between $3.4 million and $10.3 million, ranking him 31st among his fellow plutocratic 1 percenters in the World’s Greatest Deliberative Body. And where has that money come from? Some questions about it have been raised here and here. Not a pretty sight — no wonder Reid refuses to release his tax returns.

Hell of a Little Tin Box you’ve got there, Harry.

Leader Reid is also ripe to have another Alinsky rule applied upside his head: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. As Obama’s point man in the Senate, Reid has blocked passage of a budget for three years and shepherded Obamacare through by sweetening the deal via the Cornhusker Kickback (later removed), the Louisiana Purchase, and a shiny new $100 million public hospital in former senator Chris Dodd’s home state of Connecticut. Reid also managed to wangle a partial exemption from Obamacare for Nevada.

If the Republicans can’t make Harry Reid into a national figure of contempt, then they’re hopeless.
