Maggie Gallagher Is ‘Right’

Granted I don’t hear those words as often as I’d like, but this Commentary post, sympathetic to Perry, highlights the core issue.

Let me elaborate further: Twenty-five-year-olds do not vote on Social Security. Do you remember being 25? Old people vote on Social Security. A conservatism worthy of the name must demonstrate it cares about the government’s promise to these old people, who have no way to recuperate if the government fails to deliver.

Marco Rubio is the only conservative I know who does this. Rick Perry’s campaign will founder on this issue, if they do not take it more seriously.
