Menendez: Saw Putin Op-Ed, ‘Wanted to Vomit’

Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Bob Menendez almost had a visceral reaction to Vladimir Putin’s op-ed in today’s New York Times, in which he warns the United States that it shouldn’t think of itself as “exceptional.” Menendez said the piece should be cause for caution from the United States in current negotiations regarding the crisis in Syria.

“I got an e-mail with what President Putin had to say and I have to be honest with you: At dinner, I almost wanted to vomit,” the New Jersey senator said on CNN last night. “It really raises the questions of how serious this Russian proposal is.”
