It’s not clear The Weekly Standard knows that P.J. O’Rourke is a satirist, but they nonetheless gave him space to write a funny piece on how the Democrats are “drunk on power” and they “hate our guts.” Indeed, would-be Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell more pithily expressed this nihilism today, noting that “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” I don’t put much stock in arguments that say Obama would fare better with a foil in Congress, but at least the public is going to be reminded what life under Republican rule is like.
