Obama Invites Congressional Leaders to WH

The Wall Street Journal reports President Obama has invited Republican and Democratic congressional leaders to the White House to discuss the government shutdown and the upcoming debt-ceiling negotiations.

John Boehner, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Mitch McConnell will head to the White House on Wednesday evening for the meeting.

“We’re pleased the president finally recognizes that his refusal to negotiate is indefensible,” said Boehner’s spokesman. “It’s unclear why we’d be having this meeting if it’s not meant to be a start to serious talks between the two parties.”
