The Right to Have Sex with a 14-Year-Old?

A new gay-rights social-media campaign has taken up the cause of an 18-year-old high-school senior who persists in her right to have a romantic, loving, sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl she plays with on the school basketball team. ”Stop the hate, free Kate” is the new battle cry.

The claim that this is homophobia rests on the idea that the parents and the law would be much less upset if an 18-year-old man persisted in his right to a loving, sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl. As a parent, I don’t think so.

Do adults have a right to have sex with 14-year-old girls, provided they met as students in the same school?

What about a 13-year-old girl? Where do you, personally, draw the line?

In his Lawfare critique of one of my several columns about the purported obstruction case against President Trump, Gabriel Schoenfeld loses me — as I suspect he will lose others — when he says of himself, “I do not think I am Trump-deranged.” Gabe graciously expresses fondness for me, and the feeling is ... Its plan would nix all government funding for the ISS by 2025 and award at least $150 million per year to NASA to help with the transition. This would be a ... Read More
