Romney: I’ve Talked to Christie about Bridgegate

Mitt Romney’s been in touch with Chris Christie throughout the handling of the controversy surrounding his administration, and said the experience will serve the New Jersey governor well if he becomes president.

“Frankly, I think what you’ve seen is a guy who is a strong leader, he took responsibility, he fired people who are responsible for the scandal, and he has moved on as a leader,” Romney said on Today on Friday. ”I do believe that the American people want to see a strong leader in the White House, and he is.”

As for claims that Christie is “a bully,” Romney likened Christie’s style to that of Lyndon B. Johnson, who “knew how to make things happen.”
