Secretary Napolitano: Sequester Will Make Us More Vulnerable to Terrorist Attack

In a response to question whether the sequester will make the country more vulnerable to a terrorist attack, Homeland Security secretary Janet Napolitano said, in short, yes.

In what is perhaps the best example of the administration’s hyperventilation about the looming budget cuts thus far, Napolitano told reporters gathered at today’s White House briefing, “If you look at the combination on DHS, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Defense, then we are having real impacts on the robustness of our defensive posture, and there are things that we will not be able to do as well like secure ports of entry on the land borders that we could do without the sequester . . . So yeah, [there is a vulnerability].”
