Sharpton Responds to All His ‘Haters’

Reverend Al Sharpton boasted about his weight-loss, his MSNBC show’s first two years, and his new girlfriend on the Wendy Williams Show on Wednesday morning. Sharpton appeared on the daytime talkshow to promote his latest book.

Sharpton proudly discussed his current weight of 138 pounds, down from his previous 400 pounds thanks to a strict diet. Tying it to politics, Sharpton warned that while he personally doesn’t think Chris Christie’s weight would impact his ability to govern, voters might see otherwise.

He also took the opportunity to lash out at his critics, citing his accomplishments in his two years on television: “I’ve led the Trayvon Martin fight, the voter-ID fight, the March on Washington anniversary, the jobs fight, stood by the president. . . . I ask all my haters, ‘Tell me what you’ve done — I’ve done all that and then some, all you’ve done is attack me.’”

When pressed about the “new lady” in his life, the still-married, 58 year-old Sharpton at first seemed uncomfortable — his relationship with a 35-year-old woman has lately been tabloid fodder — before ultimately responding, “Ain’t no shame in my game.”
