Smith Calls for Special Counsel to Investigate the DOJ

Rep. Lamar Smith (R., Texas), ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, has sent a letter to President Obama requesting the appointment of a special counsel to examine the Department of Justice’s handling of the New Black Panther Party matter and allegations that the department enforces certain civil-rights laws “in a racially discriminatory manner.”
