The Corner

Joe is oddly passionate about Syria, given the administration’s radio silence on the civil war there. Sets up strawman of Romney-Ryan putting boots on the ground. This time they’re not going to let an al-Qaeda or Muslim Brotherhood faction take over as they did in Egypt and other Arab Spring countries.

Joe can argue this as forcefully as he wants, and bring in all of our allies. But the fact is, the Obama administration Middle East policy has been disastrous. And nothing good is going to happen in Syria one way or the other.

Ryan is right to keep circling back to Biden’s very personal failure at the one serious task he has been given: He failed at negotiating the status of forces agreement as we withdrew from Iraq. That is why all the blood and treasure the US.. spent there for a decade is being frittered away. That can’t be mentioned enough.
