Talkin’ Like President Obama

If you haven’t read Jonah’s excellent column today, don’t miss it. One line reminded me of something that really bothers me about the president. Jonah writes, “Perry’s twang offends liberals who think everyone should talk like Barack Obama.” Here’s the thing though: Obama certainly doesn’t have a twang, but he drops his “g’s” like crazy. And he says “folks” all the time. Is this how he learned to talk in Hawaii, at Columbia, or during his time at the University of Chicago Law School? It’s a highly annoying and thoroughly unconvincing affectation.
