Two Weeks Before Election Day, Obama Decides To Announce His Plans for a Second Term

President Obama’s been so occupied explaining why it isn’t his fault that the unemployment rate is high and the economy miserable that he clean forgot he might want to talk a little about what he would do if re-elected until today. Text from the ad:

There’s just no quit in America…and you’re seeing that right now. Over five million new jobs. Exports up forty one percent. Home values…rising. Our auto industry…back. And our heroes…are coming home. We’re not there yet…but we’ve made real progress and the last thing we should do is turn back now.

Here’s my plan for the next four years: Making education and training a national priority; building on our manufacturing boom; boosting American-made energy; reducing the deficits responsibly by cutting where we can, and asking the wealthy to pay a little more. And ending the war in Afghanistan, so we can do some nation-building here at home.  That’s the right path. So…read my plan, compare it to Governor Romney’s and decide which is better for you.

It’s an honor to be your President…and I’m asking for your vote…so together, we can keep moving America forward.

Obstruction Confusions

In his Lawfare critique of one of my several columns about the purported obstruction case against President Trump, Gabriel Schoenfeld loses me — as I suspect he will lose others — when he says of himself, “I do not think I am Trump-deranged.” Gabe graciously expresses fondness for me, and the feeling is ... Students’ Anti-Gun Views

Are children innocents or are they leaders? Are teenagers fully autonomous decision-makers, or are they lumps of mental clay, still being molded by unfolding brain development? The Left seems to have a particularly hard time deciding these days. Take, for example, the high-school students from Parkland, ... Read More

Kill Chic

We live in a society in which gratuitous violence is the trademark of video games, movies, and popular music. Kill this, shoot that in repugnant detail becomes a race to the visual and spoken bottom. We have gone from Sam Peckinpah’s realistic portrayal of violent death to a gory ritual of metal ripping ... Read More

Romney Is a Misfit for America

Mitt’s back. The former governor of Massachusetts and occasional native son of Michigan has a new persona: Mr. Utah. He’s going to bring Utah conservatism to the whole Republican party and to the country at large. Wholesome, efficient, industrious, faithful. “Utah has a lot to teach the politicians in ... Read More
