Will: Christie’s Strength Is His Biggest Weakness

New Jersey governor Chris Christie’s (R) greatest strength is also his greatest weakness, George Will said Sunday morning.

“His great strength is that he can say ’I can flip a blue state,’ ” Will said.

Appearing on Fox News Sunday’s panel, Will said that Christie could make the case that the GOP needs to flip one of the 18 blue states — including New Jersey — that have voted Democratic in six consecutive presidential elections and total 242 electoral votes.

“If the Democratic presidential nominee can assume those states, he or she will spend the autumn of 2016 looking for 28 electoral votes and he or she will find them,” Will said.

However, Will contended that Christie’s strength is a double-edged sword within the GOP because it could make him seem suspect.

During a CNN town hall on gun control, a furious crowd of Americans jeered at two conservatives, Marco Rubio and Dana Loesch, who stood in defense of the Second ... Read More
