Another Comment on the Regnerus Controversy

Professors Jon Shields and Josh Dunn weigh in on the controversy over Mark Regnerus’s research on the impact of same-sex marriage on children.

My interest in this controversy is not the substance, but what it tells us about tolerance within the academy. In that regard, here’s the money quote from the piece: “As some fields continue to tolerate (though not always welcome) conservative scholars while others discipline and punish, the academy has become more divided, though not by party politics. Instead, it is divided into those disciplines that are willing to tolerate and engage unpopular perspectives, and those that are illiberal denizens of groupthink.”
