Education Credentials: Not Just for Jobs

In light of Manning Up, I found this study of online dating interesting. Bottom line:

Studies of educational homogamy generally show that couples where women have a higher level of education are rare. Our study demonstrates that this is mainly the result of women’s reluctance to contact lower qualified men.

In other words, (A) women are outpacing men in educational achievement, with about 60 percent of college students being female; and (B) women are unwilling to be romantically involved with men who are less educated than themselves.

Needless to say, these two simple facts, when combined with monogamy, don’t add up.
