Nick, as I’m sure an old SABR hand like you knows, Hoyt Wilhelm’s second major-league game was just as uncharacteristic as his first, though in a different way.  In his first major-league plate appearance, on April 23, 1952, Wilhelm hit a home run against Dick Hoover of the Boston Braves.  He never hit another one.
