After having to cancel a scrimmage last week due to poor field conditions, some Bears players — including star Brian Urlacher — are calling for a high-tech artificial-turf surface be put in place. If I had a vote, I’d say go with the fake stuff. Too many chances for injury on a beat-up field, which is what Soldier Field is by October.
More here, including the economic case on how an artificial surface would benefit taxpayers. (OK, stop laughing. I know nobody really cares about Chicago’s taxpayers, but it’s an amusing thought nonetheless.)
