A World Series Game Six to Remember

You remember Game Six in 19751985198619911993, and 2002.

Add 2011 to the list.

At times it was unclear whether this year’s game six was being played for a World Series championship or relegation to the minor leagues. Both the Cardinals and Rangers committed numerous on-field miscues. There were several more head-scratching managerial decisions. St. Louis even scored runs in two different innings — the fourth and sixth — without hitting a ball out of the infield.

Still, the Rangers had five different leads in the game and looked to be headed to their first-ever Commissioner’s Trophy. The Cardinals were down to their last strike in both the ninth and tenth innings . . . only to tie the game both times. David Freese’s walk-off home run in the eleventh seemed almost anticlimactic by comparison.

And we’ll see you tomorrow night!” indeed.
